Cooling Hard-to-Reach Rooms

While the summer may be winding down here in Dayton, Ohio, we still have a few scorchers ahead on the forecast. During these hot summer days, does it seem like you have one room in your house that just won’t cool down no matter how long you run the air conditioner or how low you set the thermostat? Hard-to-cool rooms are a common problem for homeowners, but thankfully Allied Services, Inc. has a few tried and true tips to make that room much more comfortable as we wrap up the summer season.

Have Your AC Unit Evaluated

First, we want to make sure your AC unit is the appropriate size and is working correctly. If you have rooms in your house that never seem to cool down, it may be because your unit is oversized for your house. An oversized unit cools too quickly and does a poor job maintaining the desired temperature. It also is inefficient in removing humidity from the air, so the room doesn’t feel cool. A properly sized air conditioner is essential to maintaining true comfort in the home and saving you money on energy bills. We’ll also go through our regular AC maintenance checklist to make sure there aren’t any other issues that could be causing rooms in your home to stay hot.

Inspect Your Ductwork

Next, we will check your ductwork to search for leaks, and to see if your home is in need of ductwork cleaning. Dirty or leaking ductwork can reduce your system’s performance and could be the reason why some rooms aren’t getting cool air. Your AC unit could be working extra hard but the air is escaping and unable to reach certain rooms, costing you more money.

Install a Ductless Mini-Split

If your AC unit and duct system are in perfect working order but a room in your home is still too warm for your liking, you can install a ductless mini-split. Mini-splits are easy to install and can cool or heat individual rooms. Additionally, you can choose to only run them when you are in that room, conserving energy while ensuring a comfortable temperature. Mini-splits are efficient and effective.

If you are ready to make some changes to your existing cooling system to maintain a more comfortable temperature in your hard-to-reach rooms, contact Allied Services today at (937) 269-5059.
