Spring Checklist for Homeowners

With the current stay-at-home order and the fact that spring is already a great time to clean, homeowners in Dayton, Ohio, are getting ahead on their springtime chores. With all that extra time on your hands, you can tackle those important tasks that often get overlooked. Our team at Allied Services, Inc. has put together a quick checklist of things you can easily complete this spring.

1. Clean Out Gutters

For some reason, cleaning out your home’s gutters seems to be a job that no one looks forward to. However, with all the debris that has likely collected there over the winter, it’s unwise to avoid cleaning them. Start by scooping out all the leaves, twigs, seeds, dirt, and other debris, and then make sure the downspouts are clear and can drain freely. Finally, use a garden hose to spray water from the roof through the downspout and make sure it comes out without restriction.

2. Check Your HVAC Unit

Spring is a great time to schedule a professional HVAC tune-up; however, there are a few things you can do to prepare for it. Check for any visible damage, remove any debris, and trim away any vegetation that may be growing too close to your exterior unit. Then, head inside and change your air filter to ensure the best performance when it’s time to turn on your AC unit.

3. Check or Reinstall Screens

There’s nothing like those first few days of spring, when you can open up your windows and let some fresh air in! So be sure you go around your house and check the condition of your screens. If any tears, holes, or other damage occurred over the winter, you may need to patch or replace a few screens. If you put your screens away for the winter, reinstall them on your windows after inspecting them.

Use your time at home wisely and get your Dayton, OH, home ready for spring. Our team at Allied Services, Inc. can help with your cooling system questions and service, and we also provide duct cleaning services. Contact us today at (937) 269-5059 to schedule your spring service.
