Air Filters

Reduce Allergens in Your Home

You may not know it, but indoor air can contain many more allergens than the outdoors. The air inside of your home is much more static and requires filtering and circulation. In the spring, when pollen is prominent, pollutants can build up in your home and be harmful to your health. Use these tips from Allied Services, Inc. to help reduce the allergens in your home.

Consider an Air Purifier

The quickest and easiest way to greatly improve your air quality is to purchase an air purifier. Using a HEPA filter (high-efficiency particulate air filter) the purifier will pull air into the device, clean it by removing dander, dust, pollen and other particles, and push it back out into your home. This is especially helpful to those who struggle with allergies or have asthma. Be sure to keep the filter in the purifier clean.

Monitor Humidity Levels

Another important factor to your home’s air quality is this humidity level. If the humidity in your home is too low, it can cause asthma flare-ups. Houses that are high in humidity can lead to dry skin and sinus issues. Investing in a smart thermostat is one great way to keep an eye on your humidity levels. From there, use either humidifiers or dehumidifiers to reach an appropriate humidity.

Keep a Tidy House

This is an obvious tip, but cleaning your home on a regular basis will also help keep your air cleaner. Vacuuming and dusting can reduce particle and dander build-up. If you are a pet owner, be sure to wash their beds and potentially keep them out of your bedrooms if necessary. Additionally, keep your bathrooms and showers clean to help keep moisture low and prevent mildew.

Improve the air quality and reduce the allergens in your home by ensuring your HVAC system is running efficiently and that you change your filter every one to three months. Contact Allied Services, Inc. of Dayton, Ohio, today at (937) 269-5059 to schedule your next HVAC maintenance appointment.
