AC Repair

Is Your AC Technician Trustworthy?

Much like finding the right mechanic, finding the right air conditioner technician can be a difficult process. It’s hard to know you’ve found someone you can trust if you don’t know anything about the machinery in question. However, just because you don’t know what’s wrong with your air conditioner, doesn’t mean there aren’t questions you can ask to learn if your technician is trustworthy. At Allied Services, Inc., we recommend asking these four questions before hiring an AC technician.

1. Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

Just as you wouldn’t trust a doctor without a medical license, you shouldn’t trust your air conditioner to someone who isn’t licensed, bonded, and insured. Even if your repair is minor, you should only work with a company whose technicians have the required education and experience to be licensed by the state. Additionally, working with any type of contractor that isn’t insured is dangerous not only for them, but also for you. If they sustain an injury while working on your equipment, they can sue you!

2. Do you have experience with my unit?

Many companies sell and work with a specific brand of air conditioner and may not have experience working on yours. Before you hire them, it’s important to make sure they’ve worked on on your specific model before so there’s a better chance of them knowing how to diagnose and fix any issues correctly.

3. Do you have references?

If you’re like us, we like to read reviews and see that others have been satisfied by a job well done before we trust a company. A company that doesn’t offer references offers no proof that they will do a good job. Remember, you should be putting just as much research into your air conditioner technician as you do your online purchases.

4. Do you offer service plans?

Finally, before hiring an AC technician, find out if there are ways you can save money on the job. Many companies offer service plans that allow you to receive regular maintenance and discounts just for being a member. These types of service plans often save you money in the long run, so they are well worth it.

For air conditioner technicians you can trust, contact Allied Services today at (937) 269-5059. We’ve been serving the Dayton, OH, area with comprehensive HVAC maintenance and installation since 1955.
