Air Duct Cleaning

3 Reasons to Have Your Air Ducts Cleaned

Spring cleaning season is upon us and, as you are carting unwanted items out of the house for the annual garage sale, don’t forget about cleaning and maintenance of a very important, yet often forgotten home appliance: your HVAC system. Having your unit serviced should be on your to-do list every year, and spring is the ideal time to get it done before the brutal heat of summer sets in. You should also look into having your air ducts cleaned by the professionals at Allied Services, Inc. If you’re not sure if your home would really benefit from an air duct cleaning, here are some factors to consider.

1. Reduces Allergens and Irritants

If you or a member of your family suffers from asthma, allergies, or other respiratory problems, you should get your air ducts cleaned regularly. Air ducts frequently contain harmful contaminants such as pet dander, bacteria, pollen, mildew, mold spores, and similar toxins. Without regular cleaning of your air ducts, the dirty air in your home will just keep circulating over and over making for an unhealthy living environment.

2. Removes Unpleasant Smells and Odors

We all try to keep our houses clean and odor free, but even the cleanest home can have lingering smells that no amount of scrubbing can fully get rid of. Having your air ducts cleaned can remove odors from pets, mold, tobacco, household cleaning agents, and stale smells from food preparation. A good cleaning can even remove dust that creates a musty smell throughout your house.

3. Increases System Efficiency

Dust, hair, pests, and other pollutants living in your air ducts will hinder air flow and make your system work harder than it should to heat and cool your home. A good cleaning will get all of that gross stuff out of there and increase the efficiency of your system. You could even see a decrease in your heating and cooling bills as the system runs more efficiently and uses less electricity.
